Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Tape is a special fiber tape made of hypoallergenic cotton and contains no latex. It is made with an acrylic heat-activated backing and is manufactured in a manner that allows it to stretch only on the longitudinal axis, meaning that it can stretch up to 60% of its resting length. The tape was designed to imitate the physical properties of the skin (thickness and weight). Dr. Kenzo Kase developed Kinesio Tape in 1973 to enhance physiologic treatments.

Kinesio Tape is now used for many physical disorders throughout the entire body. This tape is used by athletes and non-athletes alike for many different bodily systems, including muscular, circulatory, fascial, and neural. The effects of Kinesio Tape range from improving muscle tone, improving posture, and correcting movement dysfunctions. The tape is also beneficial in treating fascial disorders as well as joint malfunctions.

Many therapists, trainers, and medical professionals around the world use The Kinesio Taping Method to improve patients’ well-being. The staff at The Fascial Pain Clinic are certified experts in this method. Each bodily system has a unique application to enhance healing. Kinesio Taping is not the same as the McConnell Taping Method. The tape is easily identified by the printing “Kinesio Tex” on the back.
